Warm Comforting Food on Cold Days

wyoming pure beef stew

Winter has finally decided to arrive here in Wyoming and it is bitter cold right now! There is no better way to warm up on these extremely cold days than a bowl of hot and hearty beef stew. Everyone has their own take on beef stew, so we thought we would share ours! My Mom, Cindy, is always my first call when making dinner. Beef stew happens to be something that everyone in our family enjoys, even the toddlers and non-soup fans.

  • 3 lbs Wyoming Pure Stew Meat
  • 1 onion diced
  • 32 oz beef broth
  • 1 bag of baby carrots
  • 1 bag of baby potatoes
  • 2-3 stalks of celery
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

You can add more/less vegetables or other vegetables of your choice.

Let’s Cook!

Of course, start with three pounds of our flavorful Wyoming Pure stew meat. Many recipes you read suggest that you sear your meat first, which will add a little more flavor to your stew, but if you don’t have time for that it’s ok. My Mom and I both feel that the beauty of using a crock pot is the ease of use and the fewer dirty dishes the better! We ALWAYS recommend using a crockpot liner to help with cleanup too.

Start by placing the stew meat, onions, salt, pepper, and about ½ cup of beef broth in a crock pot, and cook on high for 2-3 hours. After cooking the meat for a few hours, add in the remaining beef broth, potatoes, carrots, and celery, and cook for another hour on high.

Next, add 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce and turn the crockpot down to low. Cook on low for about 3 hours. If needed, add a little cornstarch to thicken the stew to your liking.

Now, it is time to enjoy your delicious and warm beef stew! We suggest serving your stew with crackers or hard/crusty bread or rolls. Stay warm!!
